Metal Cascade Mini Ring (CMR) random packing is the most advanced design

Metal Cascade Mini Ring
Metal Cascade Mini Ring (CMR) random packing is the most advanced design in the industry. These high-performance packings provide significant capacity advantages and lower pressure drop than other random packings without loss of efficiency, available in several sizes and virtually any metallic material.
CMR has an aspect ratio of 1:3(the height of the cylinder is 1/3 the diameter) and is parallel stacked to achieve optimal gas-liquid contact and separation in a packed bed. This preference for a vertical orientation of the ring surface, which exposes much of its interior and exterior surfaces to the liquid and vapor, promotes the maximum use of available surface area and increases operational efficiency.
Moreover, because of its preferential orientation, Cascade Mini Ring (CMR) also allows the vapor to flow more freely, which results in lower pressure drop and increased capacity. This also enhances the overall performance of the system, reducing costs and improving throughput.
Advantages of Cascade Mini Ring
The most important feature of this type of random packing is that its largest opening is predominantly in the direction of the vapor flow. This facilitates easy passage and allows the vapor to move more freely through the packing element, resulting in a lower pressure drop.
In addition, the preferred orientation of the ring surface ensures that most of the surface of the ring is positioned vertically in the tower rather than horizontally, which further assists mass transfer. It is also crucial that as much of the surface area available be effectively wetted because, in any packed bed or tower, the underside of any horizontal surface is shielded from the liquid that trickles down and thus does not get wetted as efficiently.
These characteristics make the cascade mini ring an ideal choice for absorption towers and other high-pressure towers where there is a need to reduce pressure drop, while increasing plant capacity. They are especially effective for rectification towers under vacuum to treat thermosensitive, decomposable, polymerizable or cokable systems.
Compared with the traditional pall ring, cascade mini ring is superior for gas-liquid contacting. The two end’s round turn up and large opening pore area of cascade mini ring will promote the liquid’s continuously interflow and shunt to achieve the surface’s update, which can increase the gas-liquid contacting efficiency and improve the separation impact.
The flanged ends of cascade mini ring can be a variety of materials, including metal, plastic and ceramic. These materials have good corrosion resistance and heat resisting, which can be used in different temperatures and applications. They are widely used in drying towers, absorbing towers and cooling towers of the chemical, petrochemical and metallurgical industries.

Metal Cascade Mini Ring

Advantage

1) Reduced pressure drop

Reduced Pressure drop occurs because the Cascade Mini Ring has its largest opening predominantly in the direction of the vapor/liquid flow which allows for easy passage, This reduces the pressure drop significantly.

2) Increased plant capacity

Increased plant capacity is the direct result of the result of the reduction in pressure drop that Cascade Mini Rings provide, as this moves the operating point further away from the critical pressure drop point at which flooding occurs. This effect allows additional vapor/liquid handling and therefore increases plant capability.

3) Improved resistance to fouling.

Improved resistance to fouling results from the the directional positioning of the rings,(largest opening in direction of flow ) as any solids entering the packed bed are more easily flushed through the packing matrix.
